Kansas Contractor Ordered to Refund $78,000

Topeka-based lawn service made three big mistakes that violated consumer protection laws.

As reported by WIBW-TV in Topeka, KS, a Topeka lawn care company known as T’s Lawn Service has to give back $78,000 to five Topeka senior citizen customers after violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

According to the suit, T’s Lawn Service did not disclose the total price of services before entering into transactions. T’s also failed to provide written notice of the right to cancel and failure to comply with the five-day waiting period as required by state law.

In one instance, the company owner allegedly cashed an elderly consumer's check before the mandatory waiting period without finishing the job, and the small amount of work that was completed was of extremely poor quality, according to the suit.
