Diversifying your product offering can be an effective way to supplement sales and attract a larger customer base. Some dealers choose to add one of the many UTV lines offered by manufacturers.

E-Z-GO recently partnered with Dixie Sales Company to offer more dealers the opportunity to service and sell their line of golf cars, utility vehicles and personal transportation vehicles. Dixie Sales supports a number of leading manufacturers and retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Fitting Products with Existing Lines and Service

Manufacturer E-Z-GO is expanding their reach to more retail channels nationwide by partnering with Dixie Sales. Dixie Sales Authorized Dixie Sales and Service Centers will have the opportunity to both sell and service the equipment.

“This provides a great opportunity for our Authorized Sales and Service Centers,” says Brad McCullough of Dixie Sales Company, account manager for E-Z-GO. “Opportunities will be available to participate in a Pre Delivery Inspection Program. The P.D.I. program will compensate our Authorized Sales and Service Centers for the inspection of the vehicle, installation of accessories, and providing the customer with a brief tutorial on the operation and care of the unit.”

Dealers will also have the opportunity to service, refurbish and accessorize E-Z-GO and Cushman units that are already active out in the field. “We believe these types of opportunities mesh extremely well with the existing skill set of our Authorized Sales and Service Centers,” says McCullough.

Fitting the products in with the existing dealership’s product offering should not be difficult. According to McCullough, the versatile E-Z-GO lineup consists of chore-performers and leisure models. “The product lineup appeals to a wide spectrum of consumers and will help both complement and diversify a business,” he explains.

Dixie Sales provides all dealers with service certification training that prepares them for diagnosing mechanical issues and provides them with techniques to service the E-Z-GO and Cushman vehicles.

The Transportation and Utility Market

With a large market to be tapped, there are many different profiles of a target customer for a UTV. Farmers and large property owners may use an E-Z-GO vehicle for performing chores while many universities, golf courses, hospitals, commercial and industrial businesses use them for on-site transportation.

“Consumers are choosing utility vehicles for the benefits of comfort, safety, carrying capacity and versatility,” McCullough shares.

Lines available from E-Z-GO include:

ST Line – A trail and utility vehicle, the ST Line is ideal for farmers and weekend gardeners alike.

RXV Freedom and Shuttle 2+2 – From E-Z-GO’s personal transportation vehicle lineup, the RXV Freedom features AC Drive technology and full-time regenerative braking.

E-Z-GO Factory Rebuilt – Factory rebuilt models offer dealers the opportunity to accessorize and customize each model with genuine O.E.M. parts to fit the individual customer’s needs.

According to McCullough, the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) market hit its peak in 2004 while the UTV sales are holding strong.

“Utility vehicle sales have been on the rise, gaining market share,” says McCullough. “In the past 10 years, the UTV market has more than doubled in size to well over 200,000 units annually.”

These products could offer dealers an opportunity to hit a larger market segment for both product sales and service. Assessing the line and its support before adding is essential.
