How To Distinguish Yourself as a Landscape Irrigation Technician
Landscape irrigation pro Paul Thunstrom offers nine tips to help other pros increase their level of proficiency.
Earn your technician certification. The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) offers several certification programs, and the most popular is the Landscape Industry Certified Technician-Exterior exam. This written and hands-on test is administered throughout the United States and Canada by state and provincial association licensees.
The Technician-Exterior exam encompasses a choice of specialty areas—softscape installation, hardscape installation, turf maintenance, ornamental maintenance, or irrigation. Recommended study materials, available through licensees or PLANET, offer solid preparation for the exam. The Landscape Training Manuals for Technicians with supplemental videos can be used for general in-house training for your company. Take a tour of these manuals and videos at Landscapetechnician.net.
If you’re interested in becoming a Landscape Industry Certified Technician, contact PLANET at 800-395-2522 or certification@landcarenetwork.org. The certification team will put you in touch with a test administrator in your area.
