How Kohler's EFI System Works

Kohler’s EFI engine technology was first put into action by mower-maker Walker Manufacturing in 1998. Today, Kohler’s EFI System is available on seven different brands of commercial lawnmowers, and that number could grow to 19 by the end of this year.

There are many benefits to operating an EFI-powered lawnmower, which is why this technology is gaining popularity among lawn maintenance contractors.

Here’s a quick rundown of how Kohler’s Closed-Loop EFI System works.

An oxygen sensor in the muffler continuously monitors the composition of exhaust gas, making adjustments to the air/fuel mixture being delivered to the combustion chamber.

Thus, the System delivers the exact amount of fuel needed by releasing fuel sequentially at the optimum time to each cylinder.

Additionally, Kohler’s EFI System adjusts for all operating conditions and loads over the life of the engine.
