The Diamond Head Point Homeowner’s Association in New Smyrna Beach, FL, wanted a subtle destination behind its tennis courts where residents could sit and relax by the river. George Kennedy, owner and president of Terra-scape Enterprises in nearby Edgewater, was awarded the job and proceeded to design and install a paver pathway and patio, along with a fire pit.

"For the pathway and patio, we used Tremron Olde Towne 2PC Pavers (6x9 and 6x6, crushed paver base and sand)," Kennedy points out. The circular fire pit was 30 inches in diameter and 20 inches high. "It was constructed of Tremron Munich retaining wall blocks and included a 24-inch stainless steel fire pit gas ring with self-igniting and a flame control panel. The fire pit was finished off with Sapphire Blue Fire Pit Glass. The gas line and on/off control mechanism was installed by a licensed natural gas contractor."

The location where the pathway, patio and fire pit were installed was previously just grassy area. "Prep included an 18-inch sod cutter to remove existing turf, a plate compactor for the crushed paver base, and a Partner K950 Concrete Saw with diamond blade for paver cuts and finish work," Kennedy explains.

Terra-scape Enterprises was #9 on our 2014 Landscape Industry Hidden Gems list. Originally founded in 1973 as a lawn maintenance company, Terra-scape has blossomed into a full-scale landscape services provider for central Florida.
