In Arizona, Immigration Status Checks Still Part of Routine Traffic Stops

The rest of SB 1070 has been struck down by Supreme Court.

As reported at Foxnews.com, the Supreme Court has struck down most of the controversial Arizona immigration law known as Senate Bill 1070. But it has upheld a key provision that requires state and local police officers, during routine stops, to check the immigration status of anyone they suspect could be in the country illegally.

So landscape crews driving around in trucks all day still have the “reasonable suspicion” thing to deal with. But now that the Court has ruled, we’ll see how this plays out over the next few months.
