Last Saturday, a resident of Carmel, Indiana, could have woken up early and mowed the grass at 6 a.m. Soon, that resident will need to wait an hour longer.

That's because the Carmel City Council adopted an ordinance to change noise rules.

Using lawn mowers, leaf blowers, weed trimmers and garden tractors is restricted to the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.—rather than 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.—under the ordinance.

Another change? Go-carts are no longer included in the rule. But power tools still are.
