In honor of family members and loved ones affected by all types of cancer, Exmark employees recently raised $14,350.85 for the American Cancer Society and its mission to fight and end cancer.

The funds were raised by Exmark employees in association with the 2013 Relay for Life of Gage County, an organized, overnight community fundraising walk held April 27 at the Gage County Fairgrounds. Ten Exmark employees participated in the event.

“We had a team member walking during each hour of the event, even during the overnight,” said Exmark’s Nichole Allen, the company’s team captain for the event. “Relay for Life is an amazing experience, one that gives us the opportunity to honor family members and loved ones who have been affected by cancer. We also walk to support the children who are bravely battling cancer themselves, or have lost a parent to cancer.”

In the month preceding the event, Exmark hosted a variety of fundraising activities for the 2013 Relay for Life to raise the more than $14,000 it donated. Activities included a raffle, hosted lunches, a Bowl-a-Thon, equipment and surplus merchandise sales, and Denim Days, a promotion in which Exmark employees could purchase four weeks of casual dress for $25. Exmark and the Toro Giving Program also provided matching funds for team member donations.

The Exmark team was recognized as the largest fundraiser of 2013 Relay for Life of Gage County, which in total raised nearly $68,000 to fight cancer through the work of the American Cancer Society. The Exmark was one of 28 teams from Beatrice and Gage County that participated in the event.
