John Deere has added several new models to its expanding line of commercial zero-turn riding mowers, stand-on mowers, intermediate walk-behind mowers and compact utility tractors. But breadth of product is just one component of an overall solution for today’s more versatile, demanding landscape contractor. That’s why, at GIE+EXPO 2013, John Deere also announced several expansions and improvements to its Uptime Solutions program for professional landscape contractors.

Uptime Solutions addresses common needs and concerns among professional users, such as equipment downtime, service and parts support, financing solutions, and “bulk” buying rewards. Steve Wilhelmi, tactical marketing manager for commercial mowing at John Deere, talked about some of the key components of the program.

The NeverStop guarantee offers a loaner unit within 24 hours for professional customers (72 hours for homeowners) while the mower is under warranty. Customers can also purchase upgraded options, such as two hours, at participating dealers after November 1, 2013.

Improvements to Deere’s new GreenFleet loyalty rewards program were also announced at GIE+EXPO 2013. Now, customers purchasing two units within 12 months receive loyalty rewards. Ag and turf equipment retailing for $7,500 or more qualify. Over 125 products now qualify, Wilhelmi said. Finally, PLANET members also qualify for GreenFleet perks, such as 10% off of turf parts, 10% off of workshop products such as generators and pressure washers, and other exclusive offers.

New Equipment Announcements

John Deere’s two new hydro walk mowers feature either a twin-loop or pistol-grip configuration. The mowers both have a 23.5-hp engine 61-inch deck. Deere now offers 11 models of commercial walk mowers.

New QuikTrak M Series stand-on mowers feature three models—36, 48 or 52 inches—with 18.5- to 23-hp engines. These three new models join existing series of B Series and R Series stand-on mowers.

The ZTrak 900 Series of riding mowers now features the Z950M with a 27-hp engine, and either a 60- or 72-inch deck, or 60-inch Mulch On Demand deck. This mower is designed for efficiency seekers and fleet owners looking to lower their mowers’ operating cost per hour. It features a 10-mph top speed.

Wilhelmi also discussed Deere’s propane conversion kits for ZTraks, QuikTraks and walk-behind mowers. These kits, designed and manufactured by EnviroGard, are John Deere dealer-installed and meet Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) rebate requirements.

Finally, Wilhelmi announced Deere’s new 3E and 3R Series of compact utility tractors. The lineups include five models ranging from 32 to 46 hp, and featuring hydrostatic transmissions and Twin Touch Pedals.
