Snap-on has expanded its technical education program by now offering Horticulture Certification. According to Snap-on, people who complete the Horticulture Certification course give themselves a leg up on the competition and will be prepared to meet the challenges of this career field in industries such as agriculture, floral, landscaping, parks and recreation, turf management, viticulture and others.
The Horticulture Certification course covers four areas: safety, pruner and lopper design, applications and tool maintenance.
1. Safety objectives
- Protective guidelines for using, storing and carrying
2. Pruner and lopper design
- One- versus two-handed models
- Features and sizes
- Ergonomics
3. Applications
- Environment and material size
- Cutting guidelines
4. Tool maintenance
Various certification courses
Horticulture is one of many certification courses developed by Snap-on and designed to further the skills and hands-on knowledge of technicians. To date more than 100 technical schools from across the country are offering specialized Snap-on Certifications in disciplines like torque, diagnostics, vehicle information systems and now horticulture. These certification courses place emphasis on tool use, theory and application – three areas that make students more well-rounded, skilled and proficient on the job.
The certification training is a collaborative effort between Snap-on and the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), which is a network of education partners and corporations that supports advances in workforce skills in the transportation, aviation, manufacturing and energy sectors. Snap-on certifications are currently offered in the following areas:

- Diesel Scanner Diagnostics
- Wheel Service
- Multimeter
- Asset Management (Foreign Object Damage and Tool Control)
