Reportedly 54 of the University of Findlay’s 72 acres of turfgrass were destroyed when an unnamed lawn care company accidentally applied a broad-spectrum herbicide instead of fertilizer.
The herbicide that was used was similar to Roundup, which contains glyphosphate, a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide that kills both weeds and grass.
The university is now working with the lawn care company’s insurance provider to replace the turf.
