Preferred Power Inc. and Power Distributors Merge

The distributors say the blending of the Preferred Power Inc. and Power Distributors talents and resources of both companies will provide a more robust product offering to customers.

Two outdoor power equipment distributors, Preferred Power Inc. (PPI) of Charlotte, NC, and Power Distributors of Columbus, OH, have merged their operations effective July 1, 2014. The combination of these two distributors represents over 125 years of outdoor power equipment experience.

The distributors say the blending of the talents and resources of both companies will provide a more robust product offering to customers in the Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. In addition, the combination will deliver broader coverage, enhanced technology, and increased financial strength that will optimize service solutions for customers in all regions.

PPI distributes products for: Briggs and Stratton, Positec USA - WORX, Dolmar Power Products, Martin Wheel Company, Interlube International, Carlton Forestry Products, VP Racing Fuels, and Core Outdoor Power.

Power Distributors distributes products for: Briggs and Stratton, Dolmar Power Products, Oregon, Carlton, Positec USA - WORX, Masport, Core Outdoor Power, Champion, Murray, Opti, NGK Spark Plugs, SeaFoam, B3C Fuel Solutions, StarBrite and GT.

Matthew Finn, president and COO of Power Distributors, commented, “The combination of our two long-established family businesses is exciting. We look forward to building on each distributor’s unique heritage, while focusing on the common goal of supporting our customers’ evolving business needs. Our combined strengths will allow us to expand product and service offerings, while providing valuable and innovative solutions to our customers.”

PPI expects that this transition will have minimal impact on current service. PPI’s current customers will continue to work with their existing account management teams.

David Harry, president of Preferred Power, adds, “We could not ask for better business partners than the team at Power Distributors, and we are excited about the new opportunities that this merger will provide in the future. We also look forward to offering our current customers an expanded product offering coupled with the high level of service and support that they have come to expect from Preferred Power.”
