Husqvarna unveiled the fruits of a four year core commercial handheld lineup revamp at GIE+EXPO 2014. The manufacturer is adding to its premium handheld product line by adding two new brushcutters, two new trimmers, and a new extended hedgetrimmer to its family of 25cc 500 series high-performance equipment designed for the professional landscaper. Each product has seen rigorously field testing for two years under extreme conditions for quality assurance prior to launch. The products are designed with reduced complexity to simplify dealer parts stocking and product maintenance.

Trimmers

The 525L and 525LDX Professional Trimmer additions to Husqvarna’s professional trimmer line-up feature like magnesium crankcases and drop guards to protect machines in tough conditions.

Each of the new 500 series products is equipped with Husqvarna’s X-Torq engine technology which is designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and also improve overall performance. Enhanced ergonomic features like heat shields and the LowVib floating throttle handle (designed to absorb vibrations) are designed to help reduce fatigue and increase productivity.

Husqvarna positions the 525L (MSRP of $299.95) as a product for landscaper who wants high performance at an economical price. The 525LDX (MSRP of $399.95) has the same high performance features, but with the ability to use multiple attachments for diverse applications (edging, hedgetrimming, leaf blowing, dethatching and more).

Brushcutters

Husqvarna says the durability, performance, and adaptability features that are part of the powerful 500 series brushcutter range (525RX at $399.95 MSRP and 525RJX at $429.95 MSRP) make short work of tall brush. The 525RX comes with an ergonomically designed harness and adjustable bicycle style handle for an improved grip and comfortable operation. The 525RJX comes with a loop handle and blade kit, for easy conversion from trimming to clearing.

Hedgetrimmer

The 525HF3S extended hedgetrimmer (MSRP for the 525HF3S is $439.95) has two new features designed for added durability and productivity. It has the heaviest-duty gearbox of any Husqvarna hedgetrimmer, and its fixed blade system, in the center of the shaft, is designed for easier control when sculpturing.

Gent Simmons, product manager for handheld at Husqvarna, also cited the added safety features built into the hedgetrimmer design. The distance from operator to blade, as well as the balanced design of the unit are designed to reduce injury. With the longest blade in its class (26 inches), then blade will meet the ground when brought down before the opportunity to come in contact with the operator. The unit has an MSRP of $429, which is less than the conventional trimmer due to cost reduction from design standpoint.
