DriftBuster Snowthrowers

Grasshopper says its PTO-driven DriftBuster snowthrowers deliver no-clog performance—even in deep or heavy, wet snows. “The high-speed auger is probably the most crucial component that contributes to the performance of the snowthrowers,” says Mike Simmon, product specialist with The Grasshopper Company. “This is by virtue of design, as well as direct coupling of the auger shaft to the PTO.”

By controlling the ground speed of the power unit (mower) with the steering levers, and the auger speed with the throttle, the operator can adjust the forward speed to the snow conditions. The auger then maintains constant rotation to mow through the snow. “There is a video on our website that illustrates this point extremely well: www.throwmoresnow.com,” Simmon points out.

Other key features of the DriftBuster Snowthrowers include:

  • Discharge spout controlled from the operator's seat rotates a full 180° to propel snow up to 30 feet away
  • Optional electric lift and electric spout rotation with steering lever-mounted joystick for smooth, uninterrupted control of discharge direction
  • High-speed, 12-inch-diameter auger
  • Heavy-duty replaceable scraper blade
  • Heavy-gauge, welded-steel construction
  • Exclusive QuikConverter implement system lets you remove the mowing deck and add the snowthrower in minutes without tools
  • Available in 48- and 60-inch models
  • Optional winter enclosure (for 700 and 900 Series) and 16,000 BTU/hour heater (for liquid-cooled models) protect operators from the elements for enhanced comfort and efficiency
