Western Products says its PRO PLUS® straight blade is built to handle the most punishing applications. It’s ideal for heavy-duty commercial and municipal use.

Power Bar construction provides enhanced torsional strength and rigidity to eliminate the blade twisting that’s often seen in severe use. “A tube is the most efficient structure to stop the blade from rotating around the central horizontal axis during an impact, such as striking a manhole cover with one corner of the blade,” tells Doug Clark, product manager for WESTERN®. “A lighter tube can do the work of much thicker, heavier base channels.”

A-frame construction with three-inch square tubing provides strength and endurance. “This feature shares a similar philosophy to the Power Bar design,” Clark points out. “Historically, plows used welded angle iron to form the attachment assembly (the A-frame of a WESTERN plow, for example). WESTERN’s current design utilizes a square tube that provides a more efficient structure, providing the same or better support as a much heavier, welded piece.”

Eight vertical ribs. Three sets of paired ribs were used to provide attachment points for the blade pivots—and to provide support in impact situations. “Counting the outer two ribs, this totals eight,” Clark clarifies. “The three pairs of inner ribs also provide attachment points for four trip springs and two shock absorbers.”

Other key features of the PRO PLUS include:

  • Massive pivot point with a 1-inch pivot bolt eases stress on the nose plate
  • 7' 6" to 9' widths
  • Fits 3/4-ton to F-550-size trucks
