The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., has introduced the FS730V-EFI engine, the first in what the company says will be a broad array of electronic fuel-injected engines for the turf industry.

Kawasaki's stringent horsepower certification process, per the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), lists the FS730V at 25.5 horsepower. More importantly, Kawasaki says, the FS730V is able to maintain consistency of power throughout the usage curve.

Kawasaki field tests generated data showing virtually no engine speed loss or reduction in blade tip speed across the entire load range. The unit’s integrated load-sensing speed command, sequential-firing injectors, advanced ECU and instant throttle response combine to let the user quickly move through cutting jobs that would slow some engines, Kawasaki assures, such as wet grass and inclines.

Aside from the fuel-saving EFI technology, the FS730V also employs proven Kawasaki features, such as:

  • V-valve technology and hemispherical heads and pistons for maximum power and performance efficiency
  • ECU-controlled automatic cold start enrichment process eliminates choke
  • Head temperature monitoring helps prevent over-heating
  • ECU-controlled ignition coil timing process both retards spark for easing start-up and advances spark for maximum power at full throttle
