The building that houses Lumberjack Yamaha was expanded in 2008 making it more than double its previous size. The owners, and all who visit the dealership, now enjoy a larger showroom with new displays. The expansion made it possible for them to carry and display many more products, but they chose not to explore more lines.
“We try to stay with what works,” says owner Tracy Savage. “We don’t believe in trading horses all the time and we have good quality product lines.”
Savage has been working with Stihl since 1965, Yamaha since 1996 and Exmark since 1999.
The larger shop features new lifts that make it easier for technicians to do their job. To aid in better customer service, more phone lines were installed and computers are now equipped with c-Systems business software.
To attract customers, Savage advertises with several radio stations and newspapers throughout the year. They also created a new website to attract even more prospective customers through the internet.
“The website gives customers a chance to browse around and see equipment options and search parts model numbers,” says Savage. “They can also fill out a credit application online. All of these things save us time when they come in.”
It’s common practice to greet everyone as soon as they enter the store and make them feel at home. A quality check is done on all equipment serviced in the shop to make sure customers are 100% satisfied.
Throughout the year, they donate to several organizations as much as they can. Employees are paid on commission, encouraging them to make the sale or do the shop job right. “Each employee earns a salary and on top of that commission,” explains Savage. “It encourages them to get more work done.”
