AC Business Media recently named Ryan Whisner as editor of the landscape industry-focused publication Green Industry Pros.
He has worked as a reporter and editor at the Daily Jefferson County Union newspaper in Fort Atkinson, Wis. for the past 20 years. Whisner grew up in Lake Zurich, Ill. and graduated in 1998 from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism with a print emphasis and a second degree in political science.
Fresh out of college in September 1998 he was named county reporter at the Daily Jefferson County Union and was promoted to the role of regional editor in 2004. His time at the newspaper came to an end recently when he was selected as editor of Green Industry Pros in April 2019.
New to the business-to-business (B2B) publishing industry and he is looking forward to helping landscape contractors and dealers find ways to grow their businesses while expanding the magazine’s brand within the market.
On his first day on the job, he had to address a correction due to an inadvertent inclusion of John Deere models on the Kubota listing of the spec guide in the March issue of Green Industry Pros.
A change was made both on the website and the online edition of the March issue to rectify the error as seen here.
Whisner anticipates that his past experiences in the newspaper industry will continue to guide him in learning the audience while working to further develop diverse digital content and a social media presence for the Green Industry Pros brand.
