Stanley Black & Decker Appoints New President, Commercial Outdoor

Stanley Black & Decker named Denny Docherty as its new president, commercial outdoor.

In this role, Docherty will oversee the company’s Independent Dealer Channel, which includes the Independent Retail & Post-Sales Support teams. Docherty will take over the role from Gary Lobaza upon his retirement at the end of March 2024.

Docherty brings more than 30 years of experience in the outdoor power equipment industry to Stanley Black & Decker, most recently spending the last 23 years at John Deere in sales leadership, marketing and strategy roles. Docherty began his career with MTD Products, which was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker in 2022.

Massey Services Names New Marketing Leader

Massey Services, a provider of pest management and landscape services, will make changes to its marketing team with the retirement of its 20-year marketing leader Lynne Frederick and the promotion of Rebecca “Becky” Church to vice president of marketing. 

“Throughout Lynne’s and Becky’s careers at Massey, they have exemplified outstanding leadership and dedication to our company, our executive team, our marketing team members and our customers,” said Massey Services’ President and CEO Tony Massey. “We congratulate Lynne on her retirement and Becky on her promotion and thank them both for all they have contributed to the success of our company.”

Frederick joined Massey Services in 2003 and Church in 2005. Frederick began with Massey as director of marketing and was promoted to vice president in 2004 and to senior vice president in 2009. 

Albaugh Specialty Products Adds New Territory Manager

Albaugh Specialty Products, the turf and ornamental division, hired Trevor Radford as territory manager, representing the Western U.S.

Trevor brings more than 25 years of experience in agronomy, turf, and ornamental sales, including distributor sales, national accounts management and ownership and management of a lawn care and pest control business, giving him a diverse background that will allow Albaugh Specialty Products to assist distributors, superintendents and lawn care operators across the Western region.

Trevor received an associate’s degree in business from Brigham Young University and a bachelor's degree in crop science from Utah State University. He resides in Nampa, Idaho, outside of Boise.

Neighborly Creates Chief People Officer Role

Neighborly, a home services company, promoted Courtney Kolar to the newly created role of chief people officer.

Kolar will report to interim CEO Jon Shell and serve as a member of the company’s executive leadership team.

Most recently, Kolar served as senior vice president of people services. Prior to that, she held the roles of vice president of people services, senior director of people services and director of national recruiting and retention. As chief people officer for Neighborly, Kolar will be responsible for all aspects of the human resources function and drive strategies to optimize associate and business success. She will continue to lead Neighborly's talent acquisition and management programs focused on developing and refining human capital management technology solutions, supporting acquisitions and integrations, executing the employment branding strategy,and enhancing the company’s total rewards offerings. 

Before joining Neighborly, Kolar spent nearly nine years in various roles, including human resources leadership roles at Kohl’s Department Stores. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Texas A&M University. Kolar has earned multiple certifications from HRCI, global leader in professional credentialing for the HR profession.

 Ruppert Acquires The Greenery of Charleston, Promotes 4, Opens 3 Branch Locations

Ruppert Landscape expanded its services in South Carolina with the acquisition of The Greenery of Charleston.

Owned and operated for 15 years by Andrew Dupps, The Greenery of Charleston is a commercial landscape maintenance and installation provider in the Charleston market. Together with partners Dennis Hensley and Tom Murray, along with the support of approximately 320 talented team members, the company serves customers in Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah Island and Summerville.  

Ruppert Landscape also widened its landscape management operations to include a new location in Bowie, Md. This branch joins existing Maryland locations in Laytonsville, Forestville, Frederick, Baltimore, White Marsh, and Silver Spring, Md.

Ruppert’s Bowie branch will provide comprehensive commercial landscaping services in Bowie, Annapolis, Greenbelt, Crofton, Beltsville, College Park and Kent Island, Md.These services include design and landscape enhancement, turf care, irrigation system management, pond and lake management, arbor care, snow and ice management and outdoor lighting and décor.

Ruppert Landscape also added a new location in Apex, N.C., adding to its existing North Carolina locations in Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte.

This new location will be led by Tyler Johnson, who has recently been promoted to branch manager. In this position, his responsibilities include planning, budgeting, personnel development and ensuring customer satisfaction. With more than 16 years of landscape industry experience, Johnson joined the Ruppert team in 2019 as an area manager in the Raleigh branch. His exceptional sales records and management skills led to his promotion to associate branch manager in 2022.

Ruppert Landscape recently promoted Reid Altavilla to director of shop operations in the company’s corporate office. In this role, he will be overseeing and enhancing the efficiency of our shops and fleet leadership team and seeking opportunities to implement process improvements.

With a career spanning nearly four decades, Altavilla has been a member of the Ruppert team for the past 27 years. He joined the company in 1996 as a mechanic in the Gainesville, Va., landscape management branch and rose through the ranks to become shop manager, regional fleet manager and most recently corporate fleet manager. 

Finally Ruppert Ruppert Landscape has included a new location in Elkridge, Md. This branch joins existing Maryland locations in Laytonsville, Forestville, Frederick, Baltimore, White Marsh and Silver Spring.

This new location will be led by Mike Fleming, who has been with Ruppert for more than 17 years and has overseen the Baltimore location since 2018.

This move provided the opportunity for Tim Kline to step into the role of branch manager in Baltimore. In this position, his responsibilities will include planning, budgeting, personnel development and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Kline holds an associate degree in business administration and management from Carroll Community College and served six years as a member of the U.S. Army Military Police. Postmilitary, he transitioned to the landscaping industry and gained experience in both maintenance and construction, growing his career from the field to operations management. He joined Ruppert in 2021 as an area manager in Baltimore and was promoted to associate banch manager in 2022.

Ruppert’s Elkridge branch will provide comprehensive commercial landscaping services including design and landscape enhancement, turf care, irrigation system management, pond and lake management, arbor care, snow and ice management and outdoor lighting and décor.
