WaterSense, a partnership program sponsored by EPA, seeks to protect the future of our nation's water supply by offering people a simple way to use less water with water-efficient products, new homes and services. Since the program's inception in 2006, WaterSense has helped consumers save 287 billion gallons of water and more than $4.7 billion in water and energy bills.
WaterSense-labeled new homes allow residents to enjoy the comforts of home and save water and energy inside and out by using WaterSense-labeled plumbing fixtures, efficient hot water systems, and low-maintenance, water-smart landscapes. Homes labeled after January 1, 2013, must meet the revised criteria.
Compared to traditional homes, WaterSense-labeled new homes can save a family of four up to 50,000 gallons of water per year (equivalent to the amount of water used to wash 2,000 loads of laundry), and as much as $600 per year in water and energy bills.
