Startup to Zero in on the Stand-On Zero-Turn Sprayer and Spreader Market

Steel Green Manufacturing will manufacture stand-on zero-turn sprayer and spreader equipment for green industry pros.

Steel Green Manufacturing recently announced plans to begin operations in Lebanon, Indiana. The startup will manufacture equipment for the professional lawn care industry, including stand-on zero-turn sprayer and spreader machines.

The company is founded by Scot Jones, Matt Smith, Michael Floyd, Craig Conyer and Brent Mills, all previous employees of the Z-Spray manufacturer, L.T. Rich Products Inc.

Jones, senior parts manager of Steel Green Manufacturing, said of the new business, "With over 100 years of combined experience in the landscape equipment industry, our team understands the needs of landscape contractors and grounds professionals, and we're proud to build equipment with them in mind."

With more than three decades in the agriculture, turf and equipment fabrication industries, Jones was a parts manager for the last 15 years. He also worked in the parts departments for Ag-Chem Equipment Company and Big A Equipment.

Smith brings over a decade of experience in sales and retail management to his new role as sales manager for Steel Green Manufacturing. He was previously a corporate accounts manager, and also worked in the service, parts and sales departments during his eight years with Ag-Chem Equipment Company.

Floyd, inventory control manager at Steel Green Manufacturing, previously worked eight years in various departments, including parts and service, shipping and receiving, purchasing, inventory control and warranty.

Conyer brings over 20 years of experience in the spraying equipment industry, and certifications from Panasonic Robotic Welding and Autodesk Inventor CAD, to his new role as production manager for Steel Green Manufacturing. He previously worked 15 years as a fabrication foreman, and in the research and development departments.

Mills has worked in the sprayer equipment industry since 1987. He worked in the assembly and parts departments for five years before spending the last 10 years performing tech support on zero-turn sprayer spreader machines.

“We are excited to create a product line that embodies innovation, quality and customer service,” said Mills, senior technical support manager of Steel Green Manufacturing.
