As reported by WJCL News, a local landscaper in Bluffton, SC, has donated water and toiletries to those affected by the severe flooding in South Carolina. Taylor’s Landscaping owner, Gerrick Taylor and manager, Zack Howard, are both originally from the Columbia area, which has been hit hard by floodwaters.
"When you see things like this happen on the news around this area, it doesn't really affect you until it hits in your backyard," Howard said.
The company, with the help of the community and the Town of Bluffton, have donated over 4,000 cases of water so far. The town is hosting a water and paper supply drive that the landscaping company will drive the donated supplies to Columbia in the coming days.
"We're very lucky," said Bluffton Mayor, Lisa Sulk. "There are very few counties in our state that are like this today. It's rare to be excited over a cloudy day, but when you know the misery going on in the rest of our state we needed to do something."
