Kirk's Lawn Care in Spring City, PA, has made sure that its website is mobile-friendly, giving its younger clientele a variety of ways to get in touch with their questions and/or new service requests. Kirk's Lawn Care has even developed an app for both iPhones and Android phones.

Owner Kirk Brown also maintains an active presence on social media, sending out several tweets (Twitter) and Facebook posts every week. He also has a Google+ page.

Brown also has a blog, although he's not nearly as active as he'd like to be. "When I hire my first full-time employee next year (2014), I plan to dedicate a lot more time to this," he relates. Additionally, Kirk's Lawn Care publishes an eNewsletter where lawn care tips and special promotions are shared. Brown is still playing around with the frequency, trying to decide if quarterly or monthly would be best. The key, he says, will be consistency.

"I have email addresses for all of my customers who subscribe to the newsletter," Brown adds. "I also have all of their birthdays saved in my computer database. An email is automatically sent to them on their birthday. I'll include a coupon, good for a year, for a certain special or discount on a mowing service, for example."
