Rodney Smith, Jr. is using his lawn mower to make difference.

Smith of Huntsville, Alabama, is mowing a lawn in every state to raise awareness for his nonprofit Raising Men Lawn Care Service, which cuts lawns for free for the elderly, single parents, military personnel and disabled.

Smith, who is earning his master’s degree in social work at Alabama A&M University, has been advocating for youth all over the world to take the 50-yard challenge and help those in their communities. Those who take on the challenge are awarded a different colored T-shirt after every 10 yards mowed. When they reach 50, they get a black T-shirt, similar to a black belt in Karate and a new lawn mower.
