Snapper has redesigned its rear-engine riding mower for 2013 with a mix of original features and new technologies. This residential mower is garnering a lot of attention at greenindustrypros.com.

Cedar Small Engine Company in Minneapolis, MN, recently sold a mower from the line with a 28-inch deck. Aaron Dwyer, with Cedar Small Engine Company, says the mower's ease-of-use and quality construction are what attract the homeowner market to the product.

"Homeowners are attracted to the mower because Snapper is a great product," says Dwyer. "It's a heavy-duty machine that lasts a long time."

The product's design makes it easy for a homeowner to just hop on and mow. This makes the mower accessible to first-time riders who previously used walk-behind models.

"It's a comfortable ride," says Dwyer. "It doesn't have a huge front end, so it's pretty maneuverable. The steering wheel is also a nice feature of the Snapper Rear Engine Rider. I think people are more comfortable with it because they drive a car every day."

Dwyer thinks the mower is a good fit for a small business owner or a homeowner with a sizeable yard. The dealership plans to stock a more of the units soon.

Features of the Snapper Rear Engine Rider include:

  • The RE100, RE110 and RE130 offer Snapper’s classic disc-drive transmission, 28- and 33-inch Hi Vac mowing deck options, Briggs & Stratton engine, easy on/off design, and a two-gallon tank
  • The hydrostatic, all-steel construction of the RE210 replaces the RE200 with a 33-inch Hi Vac mowing deck and Briggs & Stratton PowerBuilt engine
  • All models feature a steel frame, seat deck and mowing deck, and an optional Ninja mulching blade
  • Simple changeover from mulching to side discharge at no additional cost
  • Easy leveling of the mower deck with a single wrench
