Goosegrass season is in full swing, though identifying it in your customers’ lawns can be problematic. Young goosegrass is difficult to see in a dense turfgrass canopy, and so it often progresses to the one- to four-tiller stage before it is noticed. But fear not: a recent study found that a tank mix of two products, Dismiss herbicide from FMC and Revolver herbicide from Bayer, offer both quick and long-term control of goosegrass in warm-season turf.
According to the study conducted by Dr. Fred Yelverton of North Carolina State University, best results were achieved with a postemergence combination of Dismiss at the 8-oz. per acre rate and Revolver at the 17-oz. per acre rate. Dismiss provided the fast visual knockdown in as little as three days and helped the Revolver provide season-long control (in this case, 104 days).
