Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power recently announced Justin Joerman, from Kearny, NJ, as the winner of the Vanguard Power Chase.
As the winner, Joerman won a four-day trip for two to Daytona Beach, FL, for racing’s premier event in February.
“I tried to keep an eye on the average finishing position of each driver and ride whoever stayed hot,” Joerman said. “Luckily, I was able to grab and hold first place for most of the Chase, but I’m just extremely happy and shocked.”
In its first year, the Vanguard Power Chase had hundreds of participants choosing racecar drivers in a “pick ‘em” style throughout the final 10 races of the 2010 stockcar season. Points were awarded based on where the drivers finished.
“The contest was designed as a way to say thank you to dealers and customers who have helped with the growing success of Vanguard engines,” said Dan Roche, marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power. “Vanguard engines are about power and durability, and nothing exemplifies that better than stockcar racing.”
The 39-year-old branch leader at SavATree in Mountainside, NJ, will be taking his girlfriend of 11 years, Nancy, to Daytona Beach. Joerman will be cheering on his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.
When asked what Joerman was looking forward to most, he said: “Getting away from the New Jersey winter, but most of all I’m looking forward to the race.”
