Valent Professional Products announced that Adorn Fungicide has been registered for use on ornamentals in the state of California. Adorn is a new chemistry that controls downy mildew, Phytophthora and Pythium in greenhouse, nursery and outdoor landscape settings.

Available for use as a spray or drench, Adorn is highly effective against a number of diseases affecting California ornamentals, including sudden oak death (SOD) or Phytophthora ramorum. With a new, novel mode of action, Adorn is also an excellent addition to fungicide rotations and plays a key role in resistance management programs when used as part of a tank mix.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer Adorn to growers and LCOs (lawn care operators) in California,” said Jill Calabro, field market development manager and plant pathologist for Valent. “Because Adorn is the only chemistry in its class, there are no resistance or cross-resistance issues currently associated with it. For growers and LCOs in need of additional options in the fight against diseases and in resistance management, that’s an invaluable benefit.”

Additionally, Adorn has low use rates of 1-2 oz/100 gal as a drench and 2-4 oz/100 gal as a spray. With its translaminar activity, Adorn provides enhanced plant coverage to help ensure growers and LCOs get more from their fungicide.
