GIE+EXPO Good for Another Four Years

Sponsoring associations of GIE+EXPO, which are OPEI, PLANET and PGMS, agree to contract extension through 2014.

After five years as the industry’s largest tradeshow, the sponsoring associations of GIE+EXPO have agreed to extend their partnership contract through 2014. GIE+EXPO is sponsored by the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) and the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS).

According to OPEI president and CEO Bill Harley, the GIE+EXPO, which began as a combination of two events – the Green Industry Conference and Expo (GIC/GIE) and the International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Expo – has brought a larger, more engaged audience to Louisville, KY, for three days of new products, demos, education and networking.

"With an ever-growing and changing industry, the combined show just makes sense,” said Harley. “Attendees are exposed to different aspects of the industry that can help grow their businesses and increase profits while exhibitors are put in front of a larger audience."

In 2010, industry members who wanted to stay on the cutting edge were on hand to see the newest products and learn about the latest industry trends. Products on display included lawn and garden products, outdoor leisure products, rental lines, outdoor power equipment, hardscape supplies and related products for consumer, commercial and rental use. Attendees benefitted from education sessions in all segments of the industry. Additionally, Hardscape North America co-located at GIE+EXPO 2010 and has signed on to co-locate again in 2011.

Sabeena Hickman, CEO of PLANET, comments, “PLANET and PGMS are both very excited about the opportunity to continue the relationship with OPEI and our partnership in GIE+EXPO. The partnership displays steps towards Green Industry unification and promotes strong communication between various segments.”
