Loftness Battle Ax Skid Steer

Loftness recently released its Battle Ax horizontal drum mulcher for skid steers with a new rotor, tooth design and two-stage cutting chamber. According to the company, the heavy-duty Battle Ax also boasts:

  • A two-stage cutting chamber to permit material to be cut twice by the rotor and help produce some of the smallest particle sizes in the industry.
  • A staggered tooth pattern to ensure single-tooth contact with the work surface at all times.
  • 61- and 71-inch cutting widths for skid steers with 50 to 120 hydraulic horsepower.
  • A 17-inch-diameter rotor with built-in depth gauges, which function similarly to raker teeth on chain saws to prevent the attachment from engaging too much material at one time.
  • An adjustable primary shear bar for customizing particle sizes.
  • Availability with two hydraulic motor options—a fixed-displacement gear motor that operates at a constant RPM and provides an optimal balance between speed and torque, or a variable-displacement piston motor that automatically shifts the rotor RPM from the highest speed to a lower range for increased torque as needed.
  • A design optimized for use with all cutting teeth, which are mounted to the rotor with a single hex bolt for easy removal on the jobsite.
  • Universal skid-steer mounting and adjustable skid shoes from 0.5 to -1.5 inches for below-grade mulching.
  • An adjustable push bar with welded claw hooks and an integrated pressure gauge.
  • Efficient vegetation management, including right-of-way maintenance, land clearing, forestry applications and more.
