Brent Pickering

Brent Pickering is the Director of Landscape and Conservation at The Dawes Arboretum, where he leads the landscape and conservation teams. 

Over his 14-year tenure, Brent has contributed to long-term improvements across the Arboretum through leadership and project execution. Brent joined The Arboretum in 2011 as Curator of Grounds and advanced into leadership roles. In his current role, he oversees daily landscape and conservation operations and leads major initiatives that support the care, growth, and stewardship of the Arboretum. 

His work includes the design and construction of the Learning Garden, new paved accessible trails, and the renovation of the Japanese Garden. 

He is passionate about leadership development and building a strong team culture rooted in continuous learning. Brent holds a degree in Landscape Design and Build from Columbus State Community College and resides in Newark, Ohio, with his wife, Sarah, and their children.
