Long known for its truck bedliners and durable motorized vehicle accessories, Penda Corporation is stepping up its efforts in 2011 to bring the advantages of its heavy-gauge thermoforming expertise to new customers and markets, including lawn and garden.
The Tier 1, ISO/TS 16949-certified automotive supplier is pushing forward with several aggressive growth initiatives, including:
- Developing lightweight, VOC-free panels and hoods used in a variety of motorized vehicles such as mowers and tractors
- Serving customers in new markets such as lawn and garden and water management, where the company recently expanded its SmartDitch product line
- Widening its market lead in lawn equipment accessories including bedliners, tonneaus and wheel liners, useful for gardeners, landscaper, and farmers.
“If you look around our company, you can see how we’re applying advanced heavy-gauge thermoforming—techniques such as paint-free, molded-in color—to meet new challenges in some interesting ways,” said Ulf Buergel, president and CEO of Penda. “These are exciting times for us and our customers, and we’re working closely with them to capture new opportunities.”
To support its growth goals, Penda is executing a variety of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at maximizing efficiency. Among them are inventory control optimization; robotics integration; upgrades to extrusion, thermoforming and assembly equipment; and an array of ongoing workforce training programs.
“We’ve all learned a lot in recent years, including the need to keep ahead of change. That’s why we’re more focused than ever on staying close to our customers and their needs,” Buergel said. “We know they depend on us for top-quality, first-class service, high efficiency and low cost, and we’re determined to exceed their expectations.”
Reflecting the company’s ambitious objectives, Penda has also launched a new website designed to lead visitors quickly to all the latest developments in its heavy-gauge thermoforming capabilities and expertise. Explore the new site at Penda Corporation.
