As reported by B2B E-Commerce World, John Deere – known worldwide for its agriculture, construction and turf equipment – has been busy building up its technological offering in a world where buying, selling and communicating are taking on all new forms.

John Deere has been developing numerous mobile apps over the past few years to help its dealers and end-customers better manage their equipment and businesses. Examples include TractorPlus, JDLink and MyMaintenance.

Now, John Deere is reportedly working on an e-marketplace projected to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in gross transaction value within a few years. Deere is working with Apttus Corp., an e-commerce technology company that refers to itself as the leading Quote-to-Cash (QTC) software provider. The new e-marketplace would allow for end-users and dealers to purchase product from John Deere factories, along with product from other equipment suppliers. The e-marketplace would also calculate state sales tax (where applicable), and allow resellers on the marketplace to manage pricing and bundling of products for sale.
