At 35.8cc, the GX35 mini four-stroke is Honda’s most powerful engine for handheld applications. It's also light (7.6-pound dry weight) and compact, helping to effectively bridge the weight gap with other two-stroke engines while delivering the advantages of a four-stroke engine, such as not having to mix oil in the fuel.
Common applications for this engine include commercial-grade handheld equipment, including Honda's new VersAttach split-shaft multi-attachment tool, tillers and water pumps.
The GX35 incorporates Honda’s 360°-inclinable “any side up”, mini four-stroke technology. This design allows it to be used and stored in any position. The engine’s exclusive, Honda rotary-slinger lubrication system keeps oil in a completely misted state and circulates it using pressure fluctuations generated by the movement of the piston. Built-in passages effectively return the circulated oil to the oil reservoir, ensuring that oil cannot accidentally flow into the combustion chamber.
The GX35 delivers powerful output across a wide range of operating speeds with ample low-speed torque, Honda assures, which means that it does not always need to be operated at wide-open throttle. This reduces noise and operator fatigue, while substantially increasing fuel economy and decreasing emissions. The accelerator pump-equipped carburetor, combined with a lightweight flywheel, results in quick throttle response and rapid acceleration, while the use of mechanical decompression results in a substantial decrease in start rope pull weight.
