The National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) announced that, through its partnership with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Alliance, it is launching a 10-Hour OSHA Construction course for the landscaping industry.
The 10-Hour OSHA Construction course is standard industry safety training, especially for those working on commercial jobsites. Now, for the first time, the 10-Hour Construction course is being offered with landscape industry-specific topics. The goal of the new course is to provide owners, supervisors, project managers and field employees with in-depth information on safety topics that are specific to the landscape industry.
The course provides basic training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of workplace hazards, in addition to information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities and filing complaints.
The courses are taught by OSHA-authorized trainers, and attendees will receive a wallet card and certificate upon completion.
“We are pleased to have created this industry-specific 10-hour course that will provide comprehensive jobsite safety training that would be beneficial to all landscape industry companies,” said NALP CEO Sabeena Hickman, CAE.
The first course will be held at the NALP office in Fairfax, Virginia on February 7 and 8, and will be presented by NALP Safety Advisor Sam Steel, Ph.D. Courses are open to everyone in the industry at a cost of $199 for NALP members and $299 for non-members.
The course will also be given at Chattahoochee Technical College in Acworth, Georgia, February 22 and 23, 2018. Additional courses will be posted on the website.
In addition, companies can have the course presented at their location for up to 30 participants.
