The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) has made many efforts to support the National Park Service’s green efforts. PERC’s donations have helped the parks enhance safety, reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, provide cleaner transportation for visitors and employees, reduce dependence on foreign oil and increase energy efficiency while lowering operating costs.
In 2013-2014 alone, PERC has donated more than $250,000 worth of clean, fuel-efficient propane-powered equipment to four national parks:
Blue Ridge - $76,000 equipment donation, including:
- Generac LP3250 and LP5500 generators
- Three Ventrac compact tractors and mowing attachments
Mammoth Cave National Park - $62,000 equipment donation, including:
- Three John Deere mowers
- One Generac LP3250 portable generator and one LP5500 portable generator
Yellowstone National Park - $47,000 equipment donation, including:
- One Generac LP3250 portable generator and one LP5500 portable generator
- One 72-inch Exmark commercial mower with Kohler EFI Command-Pro engine
National Mall and Memorial Parks - $69,000 equipment donation, including:
- Two 60-inch Exmark commercial mowers with Kohler EFI Command-Pro engine
- Four 72-inch Exmark commercial mowers with Kohler EFI Command-Pro engine
- Displaced six diesel ZTR mowers
