KOHLER recently integrated an electronic throttle body into its 694cc and 747cc Command PRO electronic fuel injection (EFI) engines to electronically control air intake to optimize engine power and load response. When combined with the KOHLER closed-loop EFI system, according to the company, the updated engines for commercial users offer:
- An oxygen sensor in the engine’s muffler to continuously monitor the amount of fuel injected, so if the fuel mixture strays from an ideal level, the sensor triggers adjustments to the amount of fuel injected into the system.
- The elimination of carburetor-related issues and repairs—including the buildup of damaging residue and carburetor corrosion that can occur when using ethanol-blended gasoline—because EFI systems replace carburetors.
- Quicker and easier starting.
- Enhanced fuel efficiency.
- Faster responses in challenging operating conditions.
