Scag has recalled roughly 4,400 of its Liberty Z zero-turn mowers, designed for homeowner use, because the gas tank can leak, posing a fire hazard. Five reports of gas leaks have already been received.

The mowers were sold at Scag Power Equipment authorized dealers nationwide from October 2014 through May 2015 for about $4,500.

This recall involves two models:

  • SZL48-22KT with serial numbers K7100001 through K7102353
  • SZL52-24KT with serial numbers K7200001 through K7202020

Consumers should immediately stop using these recalled mowers and contact Scag Power Equipment or an authorized dealer for a free repair. Scag Power Equipment authorized dealers have contacted all known owners.
