Weed Recede offers a patented mulch bag system that is an innovative way to apply organic or inorganic ground cover. It is an all-in-one weed barrier mulch bag that is soil degradable and the bag helps block weeds. It works by applying a layer of material, which is either soil degradable bags or non-compostable bags, between the soil and the mulch. It helps block sunlight from reaching seeds and helps mechanically suppress weed development.
- Helps to save water by replacing grass lawns with mulch or pebbles
- Blocks weed growth by preventing sunlight reaching seeds and mechanically suppresses weed development
- Reduces herbicide usage, which has an impact on the environment
- Reduces waste removal and disposal fees
- Eliminates the need for single use, typically non-recycled, polyethylene plastic film materials from ending up in landfills or oceans
- Helps retain moisture
- Easy to install, the Weed Recede bag is placed face up in the bed and fully spread out, then covered in mulch
Record-breaking droughts in places like California have spurred residents to replace their lawns with more sustainable options. Bob Hawkinson, who co-founded TLC-Total Lawn Care, Inc. with his brother, wanted to make a product that was a fast and affordable solution.
“Weed Recede represents that next stage in technology that embeds purpose in the packaging,” explains Hawkinson. “I’ve designed a simple system for installing mulch in a faster, easier, more eco-friendly way that helps to eliminate billions of plastic bags from ending up in the ocean or landfills. It not only saves time and the cost of recycling all that wasteful packaging, but the Weed Recede bag provides an effective barrier that helps to suppress weeds.”
